Dog Licenses are now available for 3 years.
Dog tags are issued on an annual basis and expire December 31st. New
tags for the following year go on sale October 1st. Dogs four (4) months
old and older must have a valid County dog tag. 2012 tags are valid beginning October 1, 2011 through December 31, 2012. 2014 tags are valid beginning October 1, 2011 through December 31, 2014.
A tag may be purchased for a single year, or for three years if the rabies
inoculation expires far enough in the future*.
For each tag to be purchased, a rabies certificate is required showing
date of rabies inoculation expiration. The tag cannot be issued for a
year beyond the year of rabies expiration*. For example:

To purchase:
Please send or bring a completed copy of the Dog
License Order Form, a current rabies vaccination certificate, and
payment for the tag(s). Make payment to: Botetourt County Treasurer
and send to: PO Box 100, Fincastle, VA 24090
**Requires annual on-site inspection and approval by Animal Control
Officer
