Gateway Center Community Open House
Start Date: 09/19/2016 at 6:00 p.m. End Date: 09/19/2016 at 8:00 p.m.
Last year Botetourt County prepared a plan for the area around the new Exit 150 interchange. The county’s vision for this area, called Gateway Crossing, is a walkable district with a mix of new housing, shops, offices, and hotels. The vision has broad support, so the county is taking the next step to update its comprehensive plan for the area.
The update to the county’s comprehensive plan will establish policy related to land use in the area, and indicate where new transportation connections or improvements are desired. We invite you to learn more about this effort, and to share your ideas for the future of the Gateway Crossing district, at an open house on Monday, September 19.
The open house will also cover a related effort to designate Gateway Crossing and Daleville Town Center as urban development areas (UDAs). Taking this step will help the county compete for state funding for future transportation improvements on highways such as routes 220 and 11. Under state law, the UDA designation indicates areas where the county would like to encourage compact development with traditional design features, such as walkable streets, a mix of uses, and a mix of housing types.
