Chief of Fire and Emergency Medical Services (EMS)

Botetourt County is currently accepting applications for the newly created position of Chief of Fire and Emergency Medical Services (EMS) to lead an evolving combination department with 12 volunteer agencies and a full-time staff of 33.

The successful candidate will be responsible for all aspects of Fire, EMS, and emergency management. This position requires a team-oriented, consensus-building leader with a strong history of proven management experience in fire services, EMS, or emergency management and a 4-year degree or commensurate education and experience. Excellent written and verbal communication, budgeting, strategic planning, analytical, and organizational skills are needed. Salary is negotiable; DOQ and includes a competitive benefit package.

Volunteering

  • Recreation

The Recreation Department is continually looking for dedicated volunteers to support its various programs and activities. The County utilizes volunteers to support parks and playing fields, coach youth sports teams, and promote its many programs. Additionally, the County works collectively with seven booster clubs in the area made up entirely of volunteers, which support and organize local youth sports leagues.
