Greenfield Pad Site Nationally Certified
Fincastle, VA– The Botetourt Center at Greenfield, the County’s premier business park, has recently received another high mark of distinction. The pad site located in the park has been officially certified by the American Electric Power (AEP) Quality Site Program, allowing the site to be more widely and readily marketed across the country. The intensive qualification requirements ensure that a certified site is of the highest quality and immediately available for development.
“This is a great step forward for the future of Botetourt County,” said Dr. Donald M. “Mac” Scothorn, Chairman of the Board of Supervisors. “We are always looking for ways to make Botetourt stand out, and this certification helps us show the world that we are open and ready for a new business.”
The 34 acre site at Greenfield has been certified as a General Industrial Site, focusing on data centers, general machinery companies, and light industrial and assembly operations. These uses are compatible with the development goals of the park and will promote good job opportunities for the citizens of the County and region. Moreover, the certification will raise the prominence of Greenfield within the world of economic development.
“Companies are looking at sites across the country all the time. We know that Greenfield is one of the best locations for a company in the state, and now, we have a respected stamp of approval for our premier economic development site,” said Kathleen D. Guzi, County Administrator.
When business decisions are being made in a matter of days as opposed to weeks or months, instant access and information is required in order for a site to be competitive. This certification required all of the background information about the site to be researched and approved in advance. By earning this certification, Botetourt will be at the forefront of opportunity for the businesses looking for new opportunities right now.
“We can never be sure who may be looking at Botetourt for their next venture, but we can now be sure of what those businesses see when they look our way,” said Scothorn.
The certification for the Greenfield pad site is effective until December 2018, pending its development by a new business.
